Welcome From Principal Brooks

It's Back to School Time!

This is my second year as principal of Edgewood Grade School, and I am very excited about working together with all the students, parents and staff. I plan on being in the building as much as possible, but sometimes I will have meetings in town or be at professional development activities.

If you ever need to contact me at anytime, please feel free to contact me via e-mail or by my cell phone. Notes can be left in my file holder outside my door in the Edgewood office. Please be sure that if it is vital I see the note or hear the information, bring it directly to me. My door is always open!

Edgewood Grade School Student Handbook

The student handbook contains information about operation of the Edgewood Grade School. After reading this booklet, you will become familiar with our policies and procedures. Reading and understanding this manual will save you time and phone calls. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to call your child's teacher or myself. It is better to ask questions than to worry or be concerned about a situation. Many times there are simple explanations that make everyone feel better.

Please read this booklet carefully. It contains information you will need to know if your child is ill, how to send money for breakfast and lunch, what to do if you want to pick up your child from school, (in case you do not want them to ride the bus home), what kind of treat you can send for your child's birthday celebration at school, and what you will need to do in case of an emergency, plus much more information. If your child is a preschooler at Edgewood, you are all invited to all Family fun Nights.

We encourage all parents to visit and volunteer this year. We need as many extra pairs of hands as possible. If you have time or if grandparents come to town, come and visit our schools, Please call your child's teacher to arrange a good time for a visit. If you have any questions about your child's progress, your first stop is to meet with his/her teacher. Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Reading Matters

Reading is a fundamental building block for student sucess. Please take a few moments to read some of the supplemental guides we have created to assit you in helping your child develop his of her reading skills.
