The "5 minute" Rule
At the start of each day, when a workstation or laptop is first turned on, users need to allow the device to bootup to the login screen and then “wait” a minimum of 5 minutes before attempting to login.
Workstations are configured to get their virus definition updates upon start up each day. On Monday it can be a much larger update so the wait time may be extended.
Also any time after the workstations have not been turned on for multiple days (i.e. the start of the school year, monday morning) the wait time could be extended.
Best advice, start from the beginning, turn the computer off, turn it on, login screen comes up, wait a minimum of 5 min before attempting to login
