Lightspeed Systems Foundation Grant  

Unit 40 Schools have received an Amazing Grant from Lightspeed Systems Foundation, which is administered by the Kern Community Foundation.  Click here to learn more about the structure of the grant. The trainings modules are located here.

Update 2.2.2015:  Module 5 Released: Assessment Technology 

 Module 5 of the ACCTT Grant Project will focus on Assessment Technology focusing on various technology tools that can be used in student assessment.  If you are interested in participating, online registration will begin on February 2, 2015. The collaborative lesson planning session will be Thursday, February 26 from 3:00-5:00 in the EHS media center.

Update 12.18.2014: Module 4 Released: Writing with Technology

Module 4 of the ACCTT Grant Project will focus on Writing with Technology using Google Docs, Moodle Wikis, and various apps.  If you are interested in participating, online registration will begin on Friday, December 19 at 7:30.

Update 11.20.2014: Module 3 Released:  Close Reading in All Content Areas

Module 3 of the ACCTT Grant Project will focus on Close Reading in All Content Areas Using Technology Tools such as the SMARTboard and annotation apps.  If you are interested in participating in this module, online registration will begin on Friday, November 21 at 7:30.  The collaborative lesson planning session will take place on Thursday, December 18 from 3:00-5:00 in the EHS media center. A few reminders:

  • ALL teachers of ALL grade and ALL subjects are invited to participate.
  • Teachers may sign up on a module by module basis.
  • Stipends of 4 units of pay are limited to the first 24 teachers to register.
  • Each module is approximately 4 hours - 2 hours of “on your own” web based training and 2 hours of collaborative lesson plan creation.

Update 10.20.2014: Module 2 Released:  Aligning Apps to the Illinois Learning Standards

Module 2 of the ACCTT Grant Project will focus on Aligning Apps to the Illinois Learning Standards (which is the Common Core Standards).     

A few reminders:

  • ALL teachers of ALL grade and ALL subjects are invited to participate.
  • Teachers may sign up on a module by module basis.
  • Stipends of 4 units of pay are limited to the first 24 teachers to register
  • Each module is approximately 4 hours - 2 hours of “on your own” web based training and 2 hours of collaborative lesson plan creation.
  • The collaborative lesson planning session will be on Thursday, November 20 from 3:00-5:00 at the EHS media center.

Update 9.18.2014: Module 1 Released:  Facilitating Online Classrooms in Moodle and MyBigCampus

The first module of the Lightspeed Grant will begin in October with the topic of Facilitating Online Classrooms in Moodle and MyBigCampus - specifically organizing classes, sharing resources, and facilitating online discussions.  If you are interested in learning more about this topic, please sign up to participate. 

This is geared toward ALL teachers - all technology experience levels, all grade levels, and  all curricular areas.  To complete the training, you will:

  • Complete the online training activities which include reading, watching videos, and participating in online discussions (Training activities can be completed anytime, anywhere as long as they are completed by the planning session on Thursday, October 30.  The time to complete these activities is approximately 2 hours depending on your familiarity with the tools.);
  • Attend the lesson planning session on Thursday, October 30 from 3:00 to 5:00 at EHS;
  • Create a lesson that integrates technology and the New Illinois State Learning Standards;
  • Implement and share the lesson; and
  • Receive a stipend for 4 hours of pay ($25 per hour as per contract).
